Our Emphasis as Calvary Chapel Space Coast

When we started our church in August of 2003 we put together the following to explain our emphasis.

Our Purpose: To glorify God as individuals, as families, and as a congregation

That purpose still stands. We are hear to glorify God. 2 Peter 3:18 says, "But grow in grace, and [in] the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him [be] glory both now and for ever." We are saved by grace, and grow to be like Jesus by grace.

Our Mission: To build up the body of Christ by training up people to obey Jesus.

We are called to do more than win people to Christ. We are called to edify them (i.e., build them up). 1 Corinthians 14:12 says, "Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual [gifts], seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church." 1 Cor. 14:26 says, "Let all things be done for edification." We are to be spiritual body builders.

Our Desire: To be a compassionate, trustworthy, and humble people of God.

The prophet Micah put it so well in Micah 6:8, "He hath showed you, O man, what [is] good; and what does the LORD require of you, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?

Our Vision: To be a place where people of all backgrounds can grow together in Christ

We respect everyone's Christian heritage, and try our best not to disparage or demean each other's Christian backgrounds. We focus on what we share in commone with Christ, and on the mission that He has called us to complete.

Our Plan: Worship and Pray, Teach and Obey

1. Worship God from our hearts

2. Pray often for one another, and with one another

3. Teach God's Word, not ours

4. Obey Christ's commandments in our conversations and our actions
